motherlodeOS is an experimental, self-built operating system that exists at the intersection of technology and art. It is not an alternative to existing operating systems, but a personal project centered around experience, form, and curiosity.
I create MotherlodeOS as an art project, born from a fascination with operating systems that has been present since a young age, such as classic Mac OS and various Linux distributions. Not only for what they can do, but especially for how they are constructed and how they feel.
The system is built in C#, with Cosmos as its foundation. Cosmos makes it possible to build a bootable operating system using C#. The project intentionally embraces both the possibilities and limitations that Cosmos provides.
MotherlodeOS is not and will never be intended for commercial use. Both the structure of the project and the nature and limitations of Cosmos make that explicitly clear. The goal is exploration: investigating what an operating system looks like when approached as a medium of expression, where technology, aesthetics, and personal fascination come together.
